The criteria for the award are as follows:
- Has been instrumental and/or influential to the Michigan Horse Industry. The inscription on the plaques presented to the recipients reads: “Your efforts and communication have made a significant contribution to the renaissance of the Michigan Horse Industry. These Catalyst Award recipients have made an impact in the horse industry through education, leadership and innovation”. These criteria should be considered when making a nomination.
- The Michigan Horse Council Catalyst Awards were started in 1995 by then president, Barb Heyboer, who thought there should be recognition for individuals involved in the Michigan Horse Industry. A catalyst is a person who dares to step forward and make a difference. This award has identified people from industry, education, business, government, and volunteers who have spearheaded many significant changes in the industry. The people receiving this award have all made a difference in their areas of special interest. Four “Catalysts” are recognized each year at the annual Michigan Horse Expo.
- Please include the number of years the nominee has been involved in the horse industry and any accomplishments and contributions that you feel make the nominee eligible for the Michigan Horse Council Catalyst Award. Supporting documents may accompany this form.
